Computer Points

I think Joe Eitel does a great job with the unofficial standings each week but I am really anxious to see what the official OHSAA standings are. I think there is an error in Joe's standings this week - Nelsonville-York by my calculations should be at 109 points, which would place them first in Division 5 Region 19 after the win against Athens. What do you think?

OHSAA posted their numbers yesterday, and apparently they don't agree with me. I still say it is wrong about Nelsonville-York's placement after Week 8. No matter what, I feel that the Bucks will need to beat Ironton, thus gaining big points, to host a playoff game.

I didn't check it out real well until today (I know, the Sultan should do better). I didn't realize that the Bucks COULD finish 9th if they lose at I-town. No reason to panic but everyone in the valley just became West Jeff fans.

There are a few different scenarios. If Nelsonville-York loses to Ironton I think they will finish anywhere between 7-9. Basically there are 10 teams fighting for 8 spots. Liberty Union is currently 5th and travels to West Jeff next week. Ridgewood is 8th and plays 8-0 Malvern tonight. Coal Grove plays Fairland week 10. One of these teams need to lose to create a little breathing room. Wheelersburg plays Lucasville Valley tonight so one of them will be eliminated.

This is not an exact science so I need a disclaimer but this is the way me and one of the smartest guys in Nelsonville have it figured.
Unfortunately it looks like the Buckeyes need some help.

1 8-1 1063 Woodsfield Monroe Central
2 9-0 1186 Oak Hill Oak Hill
3 9-0 614 Fredericktown Fredericktown
4 7-2 1048 Minford Minford
5 9-0 1300 West Lafayette Ridgewood
6 8-1 458 Coal Grove Dawson-Bryant

I think these guys are in. The top 4 for sure and Newcomerstown will not beat Ridgewood nor will Fairland beat Coal Grove but you can keep your fingers crossed.

This leaves 4 teams fighting for the final 2 spots.
Wheelersburg is currently 9th but a win over Portsmouth West (which will happen) will put them in the 7th spot. Now we are down to the final 8th spot.
If Liberty Union beats West Jefferson this spot is theirs.
Caldwell has a game tonight and next week against Shenandoah, if they win out they will pass Nelsonville-York.

Out of all the teams mentioned starting with Ridgewood the Buckeyes need two total losses to get in.

It looks like Alexander has a shot at securing the 8th spot. Bishop Hartley plays Bishop Ready week 10. The Spartan faithful are now very big Ready fans. Portsmouth is also in the mix and will win versus Western Brown but I think the Spartans can finish ahead of them. Keep your fingers crossed for a Ready victory this week.

The offical stats this morning had Nelsonville In Spot # 4 Still.

Well I think Nelsonville-York should still get in the playoffs. Very Happy
